Spanish Sevillian pink gin brand Puerto de Indias has launched in the UK with a dark and stylish marketing campaign.

With pink gins taking the UK by storm in recent years, Premium Sevillian brand Puerto de Indias officially launched its strawberry gin at full-on London press party on Thursday.

The original strawberry gin is working with distribution partner, Indie Brands, and will be investing £2 million into the UK launch this year, as part of a six-figure marketing campaign.

Puerto de Indias claims to own the first and best-selling strawberry gin in the world, launching in Spain in 2013.

The UK launch will encompass a trade and consumer media campaign under the strapline ‘It’s not pink, it’s Puerto’, and kicked off with a unique launch event in the heart of Covent Garden.

“Strawberry Gin is a growing trend on the continent, and it is set to take the UK by storm with the rise of pink gins in 2018”, said Margaux Maupate, Brand Manager for Puerto de Indias.

“In the UK alone, flavoured gin drove more than half the growth in the market last year and of that growth, 75% was the result of sales of pink gins.

“We are passionate about our gin and the brand’s investment in the UK proves its commitment to succeed in the market here.

“Our ‘It’s not pink, it’s Puerto’ proposition establishes us as the original pioneers of what has become a hugely successful and popular category, and we hope that the brand can become as popular in the UK as it is in Spain.”

Spain is home to the biggest gin market in the world – and the sophisticated strawberry variant of Puerto de Indias gin was one of the first of its kind on the market.

Made with fresh distilled strawberries grown locally in Seville, the product is crafted with 100% natural ingredients and boasts a wildly delicious smoothness, light on the palate with hints of citrus and aniseed as well as the iconic, natural taste of the strawberries.

On the nose, the gin has subtle hints of strawberry and a touch of juniper and aniseed.
