This Time with Alan Partridge is returning to BBC One for a second series – and Steve Coogan has also revealed that his most famous creation is to star in a new podcast.

The first outing, which ran from February to April last year, saw Partridge step in as co-host of a One Show-style magazine programme alongside co-host Jennie, played by Susannah Fielding.

The series was critically acclaimed, with the Guardian named it its eighth best TV show of 2019.

It was also a ratings hit, attracting a consolidated audience of 5.86m.

Coogan told Zoe Ball’s Radio 2 Breakfast Show that it would be back for a second series – as well as a new podcast, ‘From The Oast House’.

“There’ll be another series of This Time in the next 12 months,” he said, and added “and there’s a podcast starting next month.”

In a later interview, with Absolute Radio, he revealed that the new podcast would comprise 18 20-minute episodes.

“They’re very sort of one-on-one,” he said. “If anyone wants Alan up close and personal in their own space then the podcast is an opportunity.”
